*******MONDAY 4/27 IDOL RESULTS POST*******
from Ian Shires

Well folks, we’re REALLY on the home stretch now! Just 3 days left to vote, we close for votes at 11:59:59 PM Eastern Time on the 30th. White Rose, has risen. The Doorknob Society has opened lots of doors for itself, in the upper levels…but of course, it’s all about who is in threat of getting cut right now. Dinos jumps back up above the line, sending Boulder Colorado back below it…but there are a few projects above the line, getting fewer votes a day than those below the line…we could see some huge upsets.

And I know it was a Sunday yesterday…but look at all those NCs in the new voter spots….where ARE the new voters? Those fans who will be KICKING themselves when they find out about your projects and that they could have been here voicing their support? That’s the eternal question IDOL - every year, seeks to answer.

Ok, I’m just gonna toss up these numbers and get this place back in action.

*******TUESDAY 4/28 IDOL RESULTS POST*******
from Ian Shires

You guys are gonna have to forgive me a bit today for being a little slow. I tripped and fell in my gravel driveway last night, and I’m real sore, ugh. Not looking for sympathy, just…an explanation on why I won’t get to the Kick Start again today. Tomorrow do or die…

Anyway, in the top today, we saw Doorknob Society overtake Earthman, and Monsters of Love overtake Dead Duck. The Duck, is in serious danger of going below the line in the next 2 days, if current levels remain. We saw Boulder Colorado jump up 2 spots, from below the line, knocking Dinos below it, and poising Thread of Valor as the next to fall, if it can’t figure out how to get more votes than the projects below it that are getting +20’s. Nevil and Chaoskind, are both chomping at the bit to get above the line and be in Round 3.

I think it’s safe to say Apoc: Hel’s Kitchen has given up.

Anyway, we’re really coming down to the wire on this round now there’s just 2 more full days of voting after what’s left of today…and the final count will be done Friday Morning to announce the line up for Round 3. Who’s going to get cut? One of YOUR favorites?

The OTHER big Question: Will I use the 50/50 tiebreaker to KEEP, or CUT Dogman and Lester? Have they done enough to outweigh the Judges no? How do they REALLY stack up with the other projects? That’s on my mind as I WILL make that call, Friday morning!

1.) 974 Votes (+49) - 103 Voters ( +1) Faction - Judges Vote: 3 Yes.
2.) 622 Votes (+41) - 123 Voters ( +3) Maddie Scientist - Judges Vote: 2 Yes.
3.) 587 Votes (+76) - 113 Voters ( +4) The Underground - Judges Vote: 3 Yes.

Here’s Ian’s vote report…

IDOL VOTE COUNT REPORT 4/29

Well, there’s just a day and a half of voting left!!! I wish I’d thought to do the vote count the way I did it today, say, last year, but it worked fine and I hope everyone liked that the site was open to votes while I did the counting. Round 3 should be even better for the new thinking.

The Doorknob Society knocked (get it, KNOCKED) Project Mercury down a notch, and Diary of a Teen Heroine knocked Earthman down a notch, both of those projects moving up are solidifying their spots in the top 20 nicely…Dinos has reclaimed a spot above the line by the narrowest of margins, but unless anything below it can out-pace it in the next day and a half…it’s current pace could hold it there. Do any of the projects below the line have what it takes to find enough new voters in the last hours? We’ll see! It’s a tense day and a half ahead for the projects that are around the line….

1.) 1021 Votes (+47) - 103 Voters ( NC) Faction - Judges Vote: 3 Yes.
2.) 670 Votes (+48) - 126 Voters ( +3) Maddie Scientist - Judges Vote: 2 Yes.

Who Am I? Who Is the White Rose?

There have been alot of new people taking interest in both The White Rose and Small Press Idol lately. So… let me re-introduce myself and fill in the new folks on the background of this project and the contest it’s in…

***Who Am I?***
…not Spider-Man, sorry…

My name is George Burnett and I am an amateur comicbook creator. The project I am currently working on is called The White Rose. I have entered my project in this year’s Small Press Idol and I need people to vote for me, which you can do once a day, until April 30th at Midnight Eastern time.

***So, What is SMALL PRESS IDOL?***

Small Press Idol is probably the greatest amateur’s contest in comics. Hosted by Dimestore Productions, the contest is in its 6th year and this year is the contest’s biggest year ever! The winner gets $700 in prize money, and more importantly, a 4-ISSUE CONTRACT TO LAUNCH THEIR SERIES.

Like American Idol, amateur comicbook creators go through several rounds of art & writing entries and eliminations that voted on by the public! Anyone can enter! ANYONE CAN VOTE! That’s where you come in…

***What else can I tell you about THE WHITE ROSE?***

My entry is a comic called THE WHITE ROSE. It’s a sword & sorcery epic featuring a tough female protaganist - a warrior known as The White Rose, her trouble-prone male woodsman sidekick, a thoroughly evil and insane priest, and an big nasty godlike evil thing waiting for them at the end of it all!

I entered Round 1 in March and was passed through to Round 2 with 3 YES votes from the Judges. I’ve seen an AMAZING response over the last 10 days and have gone from 17th place where I started up to 4th! I am currently hanging onto 4th place pretty firmly but… here’s the kicker… I am within 50 votes of 3rd place.

***Why is the Top 3 so important?***

ONLY 3 PROJECTS WILL ADVANCE FROM ROUND 3 to the final round, so being in the top 3 is very important, even in round 2.

***And finally where do YOU come in?***

I need you to vote for me! So if you’ve voted already - come on back and vote again (you can vote once a day).

And if you have not voted yet - I need you now! This might be your last chance to make a difference for this round. So come join in! We’re having fun & you can help me break into the Top 3!

You first have to SIGN UP TO VOTE at:
http://www.dimestoreproductions.com/signup.php

Once Signed up, you then simply post a YES in the existing forum thread containing my project, which is here:
http://www.dimestoreproductions.com/forum-t36664.html

Then… YOU CAN POST A ‘YES’ VOTE IN THE FORUM ONCE A DAY UNTIL 4/30 at Midnight Eastern time

I hope those of you reading this will help me out with some votes and push my project into the top 3!!!

Thank you so much, this will mean alot to me if you can help!

Here’s the standings…

Thursday “Last report before final” Standings Post
from Ian Shires

Well, it’s all come down to the next 9 hours. Who will be in Round 3? Who will have those coveted bragging rights positions up top? Let’s look at the movement as of this morning:

The Underground knocked Maddie Scientist out of that solid #2 spot it held most of the round. will it KEEP IT? We’ll see! Both projects seem to have pulled out all the stops…meanwhile The White Rose is poised to say “OH YEAH?”. The Machine has dug in it’s heels at #5, and it doesn’t look like anyone’s about to topple them out of that position, but you never know!

In the middle, The Doorknob Society’s aggressive advertising keeps them moving up - taking Mr Man down a notch, but neither are in any actual danger. Same goes in the shuffle that happened with Earthman moving up 2, Dairy of a Teenage Heroine staying in the same place, and Project Mercury dropping 2.

But the real action - and interest - is at the Dreaded Line. Nevil pulled off a huge day, hitting their highest vote day of the round and jumping up 4 positions. Knocking Dinos under the line again in the process. That line is huge now, and Dinos will need to get 20 more votes than Boulder Colorado gets, to move above that line again. Impossible? Obviously not. Let’s look at these numbers!

1.) 1065 Votes (+44) - 103 Voters (2NC) Faction - Judges Vote: 3 Yes.
2.) 720 Votes (+70) - 120 Voters ( +6) The Underground - Judges Vote: 3 Yes.

IDOL RESULTS 5/22 from Ian Shires

Noticing a number of things as this round starts to really rumble to life. First….there are TONS of voters for projects that have not returned to vote for their projects yet. Not sure what projects need to do to re-grab the support they had the previous round, but there is certainly lots of fans out there that haven’t gotten the message this round has landed.

We had standings movement yesterday, as Faction jumped up to poise itself to claim a #0 issue spot. All three of the top 3 today, need to figure out how to get more votes than Faction, to stay in the race for the prize. The Machine was our line jumper today, knocking Haxxor below the line to claim a Cover Spot. It’s strong numbers look like it will settle into one of those spots - and realistically, the only thing different between it and the project in the #3 spot today, is that it posted later. Fair? who knows, but that is the game here…

The White Rose is sending in it’s pages today, so I will be posting those up after I get things together in Michigan, where I am going for the weekend. I should still be able to maintain everything from the hotel…so no interruptions expected. However, when White Rose lands, everyone should be looking at those 139 potential voters from last round. Be afraid….

1.) 134 Votes (+31) - 81 Voters (+4) Varsity Squad - Judges Vote: 2 Yes.
2.) 109 Votes (+30) - 99 Voters (+3) Steel Rising - Judges Vote: 3 Yes.

5/25 Idol Results

Today was the deadline for projects to turn in, so now the contest really heats up. Voting was a little soft over the holiday weekend, but that should increase as people get back to their normal routines.

Remember that you can vote once a day until June 7th. Each morning, the voting poll is reset so you can vote again. This happens anywhere between 8am and 10am eastern time. So just keep that in mind when you come back to vote the next day! If you try too early, you may have to come back later after Ian has reset the poll.

Here’s the 5/25 Idol Report from Ian Shires

Ok, I know it’s late, been an incredibly busy day, mixing Idol and family time, and other stuff. Holidays, ugh. The numbers I’m reporting on - so people know how this works, were taken this morning. so the vote period of morning to morning is intact, even if this report is late.

So what’s going on with these numbers?

No one did any line jumping in the last 2 days…but 2 of the “bigger” projects (bigger in the sense they built big momentum and numbers last round…and are out the gate running this round) are poised to knock 2 projects out of cover slot contention in the next report. More than that, the last of the projects posted earlier today, and they will join the fight as well. Who is going to get a #0….who is going to get a Cover Slot? These things will be fought hard in the next 2 weeks, and each day brings each project the opportunity to discover their real audience, and take off in the standings. Seriously, if your project is getting NCs…you need to do something, cause if you can’t get new fans in THIS atmosphere, where everyone is here LOOKING for new projects…I don’t know - you’re just not trying.

I hate to call any project out, but Haxxor - what is going on! your early-in advantage is gone…and you just aren’t getting any action. How do projects with majority NO votes from the judges, get more votes than a 3-yes project? These are things you need to figure out if you ever want to have an audience following your work no matter where you go. Get up and fight!!!

As we kick into full gear, with all the projects firing on all cylinders, this is the big show! anything can and will happen…sit back and watch….
